We had a fantastic honeymoon. Over the course of two weeks we visited Disneyland, Bora Bora & Tahiti, and finally Napa, California.
The first part of our trip took us to The Magic Kingdom in Anaheim, California. We had a couple of days at Disneyland, staying at the Grand Californian, before venturing out of the country. It was a great time and one of my favorite times to visit due to the park being very festive for the holidays. We got our newlywed mouse ears and also got to see my cousin Tabitha and her kids.
Our next stop was Bora Bora. We departed on Wednesday evening from Disneyland and made our way over to LAX for an overnight flight to Tahiti. The airport was packed, as you'd imagine, and we had a full flight on a huge plane, so boarding took some time. The flight was not bad at all and we slept most of the way. We had about an hour or two layover in Tahiti. The humidity was quite different than what we are used to, but it was nice to get off of the plane and stretch our legs a bit. From there we had a quick jump over to Bora Bora. The sights from up in the air were amazing. Seeing the open ocean as far as the eye could see, and of course the other islands from that high up were spectacular. We stayed at the Four Seasons in Bora Bora. Such an amazing resort. We had an overwater bungalow and it was just as you'd imagine. It was such a relaxing time, but we also had some really great experiences while there. On our way back we had some time to kill before our flight from Tahiti so we were able to go into town from the airport and have an early dinner and just take in the city a bit. Thankfully we were able to upgrade our seats for the flight back to LAX which made that portion so much better.
Following this leg we spent a few days up in Napa Valley enjoying some great food and wine. We stayed at a bed and breakfast called The Inn on First. It was a short walk to downtown Napa in a very nice, quiet neighborhood. The property was very nicely decorated for the holidays. While there we were able to go on a wine tasting tour that included several great wineries, but our favorite was a visit to Joseph Phelps winery. We loved it so much we joined their club and are members to this day. The tasting experience we had allowed us to create our own blend using the various varietals that make up their Insignia wine. We had a great time in Napa and have been back several times since. On our way to Napa we made a stop in Santa Rosa to visit the Russian River brewery where I got to have a flight of their beers and take some of my favorites with me to bring home.
Overall I would say that we had a fantastic honeymoon. We got to experience several different vacations all rolled into one. And I got to do it all with one my most favorite people in the whole wide world.
